The recipe for nachos originally appeared in Judy Volhart’s cozy murder mystery Asiago and the Accomplice (Whine & Cheese Cozy Mystery Series, Book 1). Have you tried this recipe? Tell us in the comments section below.
Nachos
Tortilla chips
Salsa
Onions, green & red pepper
Meat (diced and cooked chicken, steak or hot dog)
Olives, if you must (hate ’em)
Cheese of choice
Sour cream
Get out one dinner-sized plate. Spread a layer of tortilla chips so that none of them overlap each other. On each one, place a small teaspoon of your favorite salsa. Then, top with chopped green onions, or regular onions if you prefer, some chopped red and green pepper. If you have leftover steak, chicken or even hot dogs, chop them up and spread them around. Next, layer on a good amount of grated cheese. I like cheddar or the Habanero Heat pre-shredded cheese.
Nuke in the microwave for about 2 minutes. You don’t want to overdo it. If the cheese isn’t melty, do another 30 seconds. Enjoy with sour cream. Cha cha cha.
Want more? Make another plate—don’t make a double layer on one plate, it’s not as good.
