Did you Hear?
They still haven’t found Gala’s girl…missing since last Friday!
She’s ruined for sure. I heard it said she ran off with the tailor’s son—
The Jew boy? Had his way with her? Better at the bottom of the well, I say!
Better in the well than damned to hell, I say!
Amen
Did you Hear?
Elka’s best egg layer disappeared right out of the coop!
Damn tinker-dicker man snatched it for sure.
Those greedy Jews would steal your soul if you left it laying about, I say!
Better a leaky roof than an empty larder, I say!
Amen
Did you Hear?
Dosha’s boy’s gone touched. He’s lost his mind…babbling like a fool.
Scared out of his senses, I say. Must have seen something awful!
…Well, (They’re making that matzo again—a cup of flour and some Christian blood…)
Better a daft boy than a dead one, I say!
Amen
Did you Hear?
I was up all night. Who could sleep with that baby wailing? Unnatural!
They’re at it again, I say! Sacrificing children left and right.
Of course they’ve been doing it since time began—used to feed their own to Moloch.
Better their own than ours, I say!
Amen
They’re rounding up the Jews. Good riddance, I say!
God Almighty, help Hitler rid the world of those rapists and thieves,
Exterminate the rodents, the vermin, I pray!
No better than they deserve, I say!
Amen
